Cheryl Gavan-Wade has proudly worked at Forresters Beach Retirement Village since its opening in 2003. During this time Cheryl has worked in Personal Care, Sales Consultancy and is now the Village Manager, a role which enables Cheryl to utilise all of her skills.

Cheryl finds her job very rewarding and particularly enjoys meeting clients when they first come in, hearing their stories and then being able to assist them in living the retirement lifestyle they have always dreamt of. She also enjoys being able to provide residents with support, a sense of well being and peace of mind.

When asked about her favourite moment at the village, Cheryl reflects on the day two male residents dropped into her office after spending the day painting together - they were both laughing with paint on their faces and were like boys again. Cheryl delights in the enjoyment and friendship that the residents bring to each others lives.

Cheryl moved to the Central Coast from Sydney in 1986 and loves the laid back beach side atmosphere of Forresters Beach. She has three children and is married to a local policeman. After managing the Youth Development Programs at Toowoon Bay SLSC and seeing the kids compete in all surf conditions, Cheryl was inspired to get her Bronze Medallion at age 45.

As the Duke of Edinburgh Co-ordinator at Toowoon Bay SLSC, Cheryl takes groups of teenagers on adventurous journeys which involve lots of walking, climbing with no hot water or warm beds. They are currently planning their Silver expedition. Cheryl also became an Iridologist in 2002 and has recently completed her Real Estate Licence.
